What is Mt. St Helens?

Ok i obviously know what it is but i dont know about the causes and effects from this volcanic attack in 1980. could someone please give me a few notes of the causes and effects of this attack such as how it affected people, what did they do to repair damage, causes and effects socialy, economically, environmentally...you get the picture :P thanks
