Need help identifying this wasp/sawfly?

It definitely sounds like a wood wasp, more particularly Pigeon Horntail or Greater Horntail. By the colors, size, wings, and stinger-like ovipositor, it sounds like a horntail species. A pic would narrow it down even more, though.
