If your child rejected you' would you cease to love him, and ban him from your home.?
No! My heart would be broken, but if they rejected me there would be nothing I could do about it. I could only hope that things would turn around and that lovely child would come back to us. That's what parents do they love unconditional, even if that child had disappointed us. That's why prayer is so powerful and it is in God's time not ours. God does not condemn us, He is there with open arms, even to our last breath. But it is up to each and everyone of us to heed the call. We cannot make our children believe the way we do, I have seen with my own eyes that this is impossible, all we can do is plant the seeds and watch them grow. They will and do make their own mistakes and have to learn from their errors. Like we all did. And yes it can be frustrating to watch them hurt themselves, But for the grace of God they too one day will open their eyes and see the way. In order for them to get that grace, you as the parent must pray for them. Look at, St Monica, she prayed for 37 years and lived to see her son convert and then become a priest, and then a bishop and then a great doctor of the church. Nothing is impossible with God. The bottom line here is when God's ready not us.And there are time when you have to let them go on their own, if only for your own sanity. It is called tough love. I will keep you dear daughter in my prayers and you and your family also. God bless you Denis.
