What to do in Lancaster CT, PA...?

As far as places to eat, stay away from chains. After all, if you are going to be in Amish Country, you might as well enjoy food you really can't find anywhere else. The buffets are great, try Family Cupboard on Rt. 340 in Bird-in-Hand or Hershey Farm in Strasburg. Also in Strasburg is the railroad which gives you a different way to see the countryside. Kitchen Kettle Village in has a lot of great little shops and a store with jams, jellies, baked goods, etc you can sample your way through. To get a little background on the Amish try the Amish Experience Theater or the Amish Farm. If you like Christmas, I highly suggest the National Christmas Center, it has an unbelievable display of Christmas items throughout history and more. Farmer's Markets are a great way to sample local goods. Try the Bird in Hand Farmer's Market or the Central Market in downtown Lancaster. You can't beat the little stands the Amish have set up along the road either for good, homemade food.
