What can you do about a neighbor that makes up lies and rumors about you and your family?

I have a neighbor like that. They have called animal control on my animals running loose after they let them out, called the police and tried to make a noise complaint because me and my 2 kids were playing in the front yard at 4 in the afternoon. This is how I have dealt with it an it has worked. I simply ignored all the lies and rumors. I lived my life and treated the rest of the neighbors exactly the way I did before it started. The rest of the neighbors realized that the crazy neighbor was indeed crazy and I am still the person I always was. Oh the rumors they spread about me, I am a thief, my husband beats me, my husband screws around on me, my husband isn't the father of our kids and we are on drugs. Trust me I know crazy neighbors
